LSC SOCCER TOURNEY CONCESSIONS

COUGARS TACKLE HUGE LSC SOCCER TOURNEY
Team Awarded Contract To Handle Concessions As Baseball Fundraiser

The main stand featured a large tent with tables, music and lots of great food.

The alumni Cougar Baseball Boosters went on the prowl for money to help fund the school baseball team and to achieve infrastructure needs for the Cougar baseball fields. Due to their past success, they secured the contract for the Lakeville Soccer Club Pan-O-Prog tournament, an enormous event involving four states and 225 teams, 75 of which were located on ten fields at Lakeville South.

The Lakeville Soccer Club awarded the alumni baseball boosters with their third exclusive concessions contract for the huge LSC soccer tournament, which was held the weekend of June 17-19. The Cougar Baseball Boosters ran this twice in the past and have always done very well in organizing and executing this huge concessions event. Normally they have had six months to a year to plan for this, but never have they done it within the insane three week timeframe that this year's event was literally  accomplished under. It was, without a doubt, an undeniably and outrageous daunting effort to go after this contract with so little time to pull the event off. Not only did the group pull it off, they did it with even more flare, with more amenities, and a larger menu than in years past. It was an incredible job well done by a very focused team.

The main food dining tent was a great addition to this year's event.

Cougar baseball volunteers worked three daily four-hour+ shifts which ran during the day, from 7am to roughly 8pm. Many families worked double shifts, or volunteered to work each day. A couple families went so far as to work the entire event, from start to finish.

The alumni baseball boosters wish to thank all baseball families who volunteered to work in order to help meet our goal for a much needed water tap and a long overdue outfield warning track. Many of these families were involved in weekend baseball tournaments, but each of them found time to work around their games in order to help the South baseball program. Joyce Harnisch even worked on her birthday, so thank you very much for the kind hearted effort Joyce.

The BBZ BBQ smoker was the icing on the cake for the booster concessions.

Special thanks to Rick and Kathy Sather for their tireless efforts in helping to organize volunteers and contributions for the event. The Sather team was a huge rock to lean upon and worked the entire event. You guys were absolutely fabulous to work with! Thank you for the huge effort Rick and Kathy. We couldn't have done it without you and we certainly look forward to doing it all again next year. What a great team!

Thanks to alumni booster Jeff West for the much needed use of the Toro concession vehicles, and also to alumni booster Joel Blaschko for offering to help work the event. It should be noted that none of the alumni baseball boosters involved in this event have any kids left in the school, but all still have the absolute best intentions for the South Cougar baseball program. Thank you to Toro, Jeff West and Joel Blaschko. The alumni boosters have always been second to none when it comes to funding and supporting South Cougar baseball.

The Toro concession cooler vehicles are always a big hit with the crowd.

Thanks also to Wendy Schultz for her additional help in securing volunteers from the younger age levels and for helping shop for the event, not to mention working the concession stand. She was an integral cog and is very much appreciated. Thanks to Wendy for the outstanding effort!

Jeannie Watts was another tireless volunteer without a player still in the program, yet she shopped, delivered supplies, worked the stand, and put in countless hours to help make the event run smoothly. Jeannie was literally working somewhere at all times to help out the entire weekend. Thanks very much Jeannie.

The main fry tent was French fry headquarters for this tasty food favorite.

Two others not affiliated with the program were Tim Sather and sister Sandy Doruff who both volunteered their weekend to help out the South baseball program. Thanks to both of them for giving their time to support Cougar baseball. Two more great people not in the program who cared enough to help, stepping up to fill the volunteer void. Thank you Tim and Sandy for the incredible effort and the weekend sacrifice.

We would be remiss if we did not give a very special thanks to Jeff and Lynn Stelzer and BBZ BBQ for the use of the awesome competition-style professional smoker. What a great addition to the event. Everything that came off this smoker had the most delicious flavor. The hamburgers and hotdogs were absolutely incredible. It probably wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that even breakfast cereal would be great from this. BBZ BBQ does private parties and graduations as well, so give Jeff a call if you want the very best smoked meats for your next event. You can't go wrong with BBZ BBQ. Thank you very much Jeff! You helped put us over the top on a great event.

Workers inside the concession stand serve the hungry crowd.

Last, but certainly not least, the Cougars thank Bruce Reinhart and the Lakeville Soccer Club for graciously giving up their own concession profits and allowing the alumni boosters to serve their prestigious event. We certainly appreciate an organization with the class to unselfishly help another organization fundraise for LSHS Cougar baseball. We look forward to serving the next tournament in 2012. Thank you Bruce for running such a great organization that has bent over backwards to help us fund LSHS South Cougar baseball.

The concessions contract was secured and orchestrated solely by the alumni baseball boosters, with absolutely no involvement or participation from the summer LSBA group. Splitting the proceeds from an alumni boosters event with LSBA would have seriously hampered the main goal at hand, which was to secure needed infrastructure funding for LSHS Cougar baseball field improvements. All money raised will instead now go to Cougar field needs, to give our South players the best possible fields to play on. (see plans here) The alumni boosters sincerely hope to elicit future support from LSBA and to partner together with the summer group for upcoming Cougar baseball projects which have long been targeted by the alumni baseball boosters. It's all about a winning program for the kids and LSHS.

Patrons to the concession stand often remarked about the great food menu.

Thank you again to all of those who took the time and made the concerted effort to help raise money for LSHS Cougar baseball. A job well done folks!

COUGARS THANK VALUABLE TOURNEY SPONSORS
Baseball Team Gets Help With Soccer Tourney Concessions Fundraiser

Cougar baseball would like to thank the following extremely generous sponsors for making our concessions event for the Pan-O-Prog soccer tourney a huge fundraising success. We could not possibly have raised the money that we did without these valuable corporate sponsors. In a cash poor District 194, none of what we do is possible without the benevolent support from caring businesses such as these. We literally could not have put this event together without their help. It's just not possible, at least as a fundraiser. The alumni Cougar baseball boosters are totally indebted to these outstanding people and their businesses for their generous contributions. We hope that our South families will show their thanks as well by supporting these wonderful sponsors of Cougar baseball.
