Bloomington Kennedy tosses 2-hitter at Cougars
The Bloomington Kennedy Eagles got revenge for an early season loss
to the Cougars by shutting them out on two hits for a 5-0 win at
Haddox Field on Wednesday night.
Alex Messick started on
the mound for the Cougars and limited the Eagles to just three hits
over four innings, but it was all they would need for the night.
Messick struck out four while walking five. He also collected two
fly-outs, six ground-outs and had one hit batter.
The Eagles seemed
to find timely hitting when they needed it most. For the Cougars it
was a frustrating night at the plate as they collectively drove
seven balls hard, but couldn't seem to find a gap. The only two
Cougar hits came from freshman call-up Ben Hanson who was 2 for 2 on
the night.
Blake Nichols came on
to pitch the 5th inning and gave up a lead-off home run before
getting the next three batters out 1-2-3. He also pitched the 6th
and gave up only one hit and no runs. Nicols struck out two in two
innings of work, he walked one and collected two ground-outs, one
fly-out and one pop-up.
The Eagles out-hit the
Cougars 5 hits to 2.
The Cougars are now 5-13
on the season and play Lakeville North in an away game at Elko on
Friday night (5/19) at 7:00.
