Cougar Hitters Cool Down At The Plate
Team Used To Double-Digit Nights, Struggles With Four Hits

The Cougar varsity baseball team lost a tight one 2-1 at Elko Field as they hosted Jefferson Wednesday night.

Alex Messick pitched six innings for the Cougars, giving up his only hit to the first batter of the game. After that, Messick let his defense work for him, getting six ground outs, three fly outs and two pop-ups over six innings, but also scattering six walks. Messick allowed two walks in an inning only once, in his last inning of work.  Messick was 1 for 3 at the plate with a double, plus he also scored the game's only run in the bottom of the 6th.

In this tight pitching duel the Cougars out-hit Jefferson 4 hits to 3.

Leading hitters for the Cougars were....

Adam Blaschko... 1 for 2

Mick Wald... 1 for 2

Alex Messick... 1 for 3, plus scored a run

Nick Altavilla... 1 for 3, with 1 RBI

The Cougars are now 5-9 on the season. They travel next to Eagan on Thursday for a 4:15 late afternoon game.
