DANIELS PITCHES
COUGARS TO FIRST WIN, 7 - 4 OVER BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON
Junior Nick Daniels
scattered five hits through 4 2/3rds innings and helped himself at
the plate by doubling to drive in two runs in the 1st, and also
walked and scored a run in the 5th to help the Cougar varsity win
the first game in school history, 7-4 over Jefferson, on the road at
Tony Oliva Field in Bloomington.
Daniels pitched well
enough for the win, allowing only one hit and a walk through the
first four innings, before Jefferson reached him for four hits in
the 5th.
Sophomore Reed Bunnell
came on in middle relief in the 5th and intentionally walked the
Jaguars clean-up hitter before getting their number five hitter to
pop up to freshman Joe Novak for the final out in the 5th. Bunnell
pitched 1 1/3rd innings, allowing no hits and no runs.
Sophomore Blake Nicols
came on in relief to pitch the 7th, allowing a triple, but getting a
6-3 groundout and two strike-outs, the last looking, to end the
game.

Junior catcher Alex
Messick reached on error in the 5th and also drove in a run.
The Cougars are now 1-3
on the season. Their next game is Thursday (4/20) at home against
