Cougar Field was
constructed with the new Lakeville South High School, which opened
in 2005.
The field dimensions are
310 down the left field line, 390 to straight away center and 310
down the right field line.
A primary hitters
attraction for the ballpark is the large pond just outside the right
field fence, giving players something to shoot for.
The field is a natural
grass field, complete with a state of the art drainage and irrigation system.
The field is watered automatically through a computerized
sprinkler system.
An initial ag-lime
pitchers mound was recently removed in 2006 and replaced with a
beautiful red clay mound which will have better footing than its
original predecessor.

The field features
above-ground brick dug-outs, made of faced foundation block with a
cement slab ceiling.
Another feature of the field is the
close proximity of its adjacent batting cages. There are four
batting cages total.
The field is not currently
lighted, but plans are in the works for the addition of lights in
the near future.
The rest of the Cougar baseball complex
features three more 90-foot fields, although they are, as yet, still
open and unfenced. A future plan includes fencing one more field. |
