JR. VARSITY PLAYS HARD BUT LOSES 5-3
 Monday, April 9th, 2007

Matt Clarke looks for his pitch versus Lakeville North.

The Cougar JV played very well, yet lost a close one 5-3 in their season home opener at Cougar Field.

Taylor West started for the Cougars, followed by Blake Nicols and then Adam Blaschko.

"All three of them pitched very well," said JV head coach Paul Schmidtke. "For the first game we played great. We made some plays. We just came up a little short at the end."

Leading hitters for the Cougars that day were Andrew Maher, Matt Clarke, Theo Gergen and Trevor Anderson.

Shortstop Jake Wanner made one of the top plays of the day by ranging far to his right on a hard hit ball and making a very tough play and a good throw to get the runner out at first base.

Next game for the Cougars is Thursday at home against Apple Valley, however, due to the weather, that game is now in jeopardy of being moved.
